I’m sure those expensive pieces of decor you found on Pinterest are tempting to buy.
But, there’s no need to waste your hard earned cash on frivolous accents.

Here are 10 ways to spruce up your apartment on a budget.

1. Get Painting
You’ll want to check with your landlord beforehand to make sure you’re allowed to paint.
If you are, get creative!
Creating an accent wall will give your room a pop of personality.
The best part of an accent wall?
You don’t have to make the effort to redo an entire room.
Looking for an out of the box idea for that accent wall?
Try chalkboard paint.
Your guests will have a blast drawing pictures every time they come over.

2. If Paint Isn’t Allowed…
If your landlord wasn’t thrilled about your request to paint, you have other options.
Use drapes to cover a wall, or create a wall of paint chips.
These will add variety to your room, but they aren’t permanent.

3. Focus On Your Walls
If you haven’t caught on yet, we’re a big fan of creating a point of interest on your walls.
And you can do this in more ways than one.
Try mounting things on your walls.
These wall mountings could range from pieces you pick up a yard sale for cheap, or your favorite collection of something you already tucked away under your bed.
They don’t have to be something super pricey- it’s easy to create your own.
Start collecting bottle caps when you finish a 6 pack.
Pretty soon you’ll have enough to create a cool design, and then you’ll just need to frame it.

4. Get In Touch With Nature
They say the best things in life are free, right?
Collect some materials from your local park.
Pine cones and branches are a great place to start.
They’ll both look great in a new bowl or vase.
Want to get extra creative?
Try spray painting those pine cones gold.
