8 Easy Ways To Make Extra Money In College

College students are paying more for college tuition than they ever have. With the increase in college tuition prices, students are always looking for different ways to make extra money in college.

So whether you are just out of high school…

Or you’re going back to school to better yourself…

We wanted to provide you with a list of ways to make extra money in college.

Everyday expenses don’t go away just because you are a student. Just know that you don’t have to be completely poor while you go to school.

Below is a list of ways to make extra money in college.

Moving Services

Providing moving services and manual labor is a great way to make extra money in college. The act of moving is one of the worst things ever (that may be a slight exaggeration) and there are many people that will pay for you to do all of their moving.

Another type of service is junk removal. Whenever people have too much trash lying around their house, they will sometimes call a company to bring a truck and haul it off.

Starting with a reputable company is a good bet. All you have to do is qualify with lifting heavy objects. Established companies provide the equipment for you.

If you’re a great leader and you have access to the right equipment, try creating a group yourself. Start your own moving company, charge less but get a larger cut of the profits.

House Sitting

House sitting is an easy way to make extra money in college.

There is probably a house that needs house sitting right this second (especially near a university). Someone has got to be traveling out of town soon.

Find potential clients, and present yourself as a trustworthy human being. Do all you can to secure your customer’s confidence.

You can start with a background check. Give them a copy of your report. Your best targets for clients are homeowners with pets.

Here are some services you can provide:

  • Get the mail
  • Mow the lawn
  • Water the plants
  • Let the pets out for a walk
  • Feed the pets

Provide a little maintenance, charge your own prices and ensure the family’s pets are healthy.

Tutoring

If you have expert knowledge in any area of study, you should teach others. This doesn’t even have to be about school.

People are willing to pay for lessons on subjects they want to get better at. And the more clients you have, the more you can charge them. You can also set your own hours.

So find out what you’re good at.

Being a master at the guitar isn’t necessary unless you’re a musician. But many parents and college students would pay you for that same knowledge. Think about everything you’re good at. Then find ways to tutor people on that subject.

Freelance Editing

Freelance editing is challenging to make a living off of. But it’s an easy to find a job on university campuses. The majority of college assignments involve writing papers, and many students need help writing them.

Freelance editing entails giving students pointers, small corrections and suggestions on their writing assignments. These pointers alone can turn an “F” paper into an “A.” If you’re already a major in English or proficient in English, then you might qualify as an editor.

However, it’s important to remember that you can’t write the paper for the student. In fact, that is plagiarism, and that is illegal.

Uber Driver

Many students on campus are from out of town and they don’t have a car. And practically everyone has a smartphone these days…

You can become an Uber driver! That is… as long as you have a reliable car.

Find ways to advertise your service like passing out flyers with your phone number. Hang around house parties and frat parties on campus. Start building a list of clients.

Anyone can hit up Uber without requesting you as their driver. But you want to be their go-to Uber driver. Chat it up with passengers.Let them know your schedule and find out their schedule. The more comfortable they are with you, the more likely they’ll come back as a customer.

Computer Repairs and Services

Are there any computer programmers and code writing specialists out there?

Students have problems with their computers every day. Offer your services based on your knowledge of building computers and computer repair.

If you do fix anyone’s computer, it’s important that you make a profit off of them (otherwise, what’s the point?). You must include the cost of the piece to fix their computer and the cost for labor. If you don’t know how much to ask for, do some research. Or you can start with $50 and go from there.

If they have a problem with paying for labor, let them know they’ll pay more if they take their computer to a shop.

Whatever price you decide on… Make sure you’re making a profit.

Donate Blood

If you’re not squeamish, then donating blood is a possible way for you to make extra money in college.

Every donation of blood gets you roughly $50 on the spot. That’s cash.

If you add up a twice-a-week stint, you get $400 from blood monthly. This is $400 that you only invested 8 hours of your time for. An extra $400 a month can turn into $4,800 a year.

It may not sound like a lot of money, but you’re a college student. And this is a great way to supplement the other tasks on this list.

Get A Part-Time Job

This is the most obvious way to make extra money in college. And as a college student, finding a part-time job is relatively easy.

Part time jobs usually have higher turnover rates. This is because these are jobs intended for high school and college students. These are low paying jobs that can’t support an entire family.

That works to your favor. There’s a job opening somewhere. Students constantly find and quit jobs every day.

What you have to ask yourself is how comfortable are you working for someone? You’re a student and don’t have to join the workforce yet. But most people hold a job during high school and college. It’s what you need to do to pay the bills.

Try part-time work to keep you grounded. You’ll learn the value of money, and you’ll get less surprises when you get a full time job after college.

So those are some options for you if you are a college student looking to make a few extra bucks.

If you didn’t like anything you just read, then check out this list that is over four times as long as this one!

So stop waiting around and take action!

Money doesn’t sleep!
